De Feliway Friends ondersteunt katten in hun eerste kennismaking. Feliway® bevat een specifiek feromoon voor de kat, namelijk het 'kopjesferomoon'. Dit feromoon heeft een geruststellende uitwerking op katten. Wanneer men Feliway® verspreidt in de nabijheid van een kat, bootst dit het natuurlijke gezichts- ofwel kopjesferomoon na, als een boodschap van geruststelling. Zodoende helpt het om ongewenst markeringsgedrag te voorkomen of te controleren.
